Congratulations on beginning your journey as a Forex Trader! This document is designed to give you some basics steps you can follow to get started with your education. If you need help, contact the trader who introduced you to Trading Post FX, use our Member Forums, or contact Freya at freyaray@comcast.net. Let us know if you would like to be added to the newlifeskill.com daily update email list. We are here to help!

Communications are a very important part of learning and being supported. We each have our support system. It is the company, key people in the company and team members who help with what we do. And we must be in communication with everyone to make our learning efficient. Be sure to make use of Yahoo and/or MSN Instant Messenger. We update the News page on www.newlifeskill.com daily, and the news sections in your Trading Post back office are updated weekly.

Trading Post's Live Online Beginner's Course

If you have already done so, schedule for your live online beginner's course with Trading Post. There are two ways to schedule a class. First, when you register for your training with Trading Post, there will be 3 class choices on the paperwork to choose from. The second method is to log into the Trading Post back office, look under Quick Links for Course Schedule. Read the info, click Continue then Add Me when you see what class you want on the calendar. You should receive an email prior to Friday at 6PM ET (for Sunday and Monday classes) – if not, contact the company at 604-909-3750 to make sure you are on the list. Be sure to review sections 2 & 6 of Online Basic Tutorial before class (see below in #3). On the day of the training, you will log into your Trading Post back office, click on Trading > Courses and Education > My Course Schedule. A link will be there (scroll right!) for you to click on to join the class. Just come as you are - take this class a few times or until you are totally bored with it!

Trading Post's 24 Hour Online Basic Tutorial

This is a recorded version of the Beginner’s Course, and has the same information as the manual you will receive in the mail.  Login to Trading Post FX, click on Trading, then Courses and Education, then you will see Online Basic Tutorials. You can access this and learn anytime! Also, Trading Post asks that you review Section 2 and 6 before your live online class.  (may need to hold down CTRL button to temporarily disable popup blockers)

Trading Post's Interactive Learning Center (ILC)

This has much of the same information as the Beginner’s Course, and is similar to the Tutorial, but is more interactive (there are quizzes and you can post notes to other students).  Login to Trading Post FX, click on Trading > Courses and Education > Interactive Learning Center. Be sure to introduce yourself in Section 1, Lesson 4!

Download & Log Into FXCM Dealing Station (Trade Station)

Login to Trading Post FX, click on Trading > Getting Started, then on right side click on FXCM Downloads. It's Version 2.0 and is 5.8MG. Click Download and follow the steps. After you have downloaded this, it will appear as an icon on your desktop. The login code is the code that begins with the letter “U” in your activation email from Trading Post. Password is the same one you use to log into the Trading Post back office – you'll learn how to buy and sell, set limits and stops. (if you have any technical problems, you can contact Trading Post)

Launch Web-based Charts

Your first four weeks of charts are included with your Beginner's Course purchase. The four weeks begins the first time you launch your charts or 10 days from your activation date - which ever comes first. Login to Trading Post FX, then look under Quick Links for Charts. You may need to download Java first (link is right above Launch Charts link). You will pick web charts or desktop - web charts are recommended, but both are good - there's a chart comparison in Trading Post's back office. You may need to Register first. When you Launch Charts, four charts will pop up (you may need to hold down the Ctrl button to temporarily disable pop-up blockers). To start with, keep the EUR/USD and close the other three. Maximize the EUR/USD and practice the steps below.
  • Change time scale (at top, click on Time Scale & Period, change to 5min/1day, then back to Daily/6month)

  • Change currency pair (at top, click on File then Change Symbol, change to AUD/USD)

  • Strike horizontal lines (click on Drawing then Add Horizontal Line, click on chart to add line, repeat Drawing/Add Horizontal Line to make it stop. You can grab the line now on the chart with left click and move it around )

  • Time of day is across the bottom and price quoted on the right is USD price that equals 1 Euro

  • Launch duplicate chart function (click File then Launch Duplicate Chart). Now you have 2 of them, and you can make on a Daily/6month chart and one a 5min/1day chart.

  • Click View then Change Background Color (helps when we want to print screen)

  • Know how to screen print and save in Word (click PrtScr on your keyboard, which copies everything on your screen, then "paste" into a new Word doc)
Start a 3–ring trading binder and add the following items to it:
FX Weekly Report (login to Trading Post back office, click on Trading > News and Updates > FX Weekly Report. This is generally posted Friday to prepare for the trading week that starts Sunday at 2pm ET.
Pictures of trades taken and notes (a trading diary). There's a great trading log to keep track of your demo trades, at www.newlifeskill.com under the Resources tab. Look for "trading log" near the top. This is super important to your learning process!
